Day 23 - Gros Morne - Woody's Point and Trout River

This morning we were on the road by 9 and headed west on the trans Canada.  We stopped on the way for coffee.  Our next stop was Deer Lake were we got beer, food and stopped at the post office.  We then carried on towards Gros Morne.  On leaving Deer Lake there was a car stopped right on the road and they were attempting to shut the passenger door over and over and then finally took off.  Their driving was very erratic, couldn't stay in their lane and up and down with speed.  I asked Pete to call 911 while we were following them.  The operator took the information and said she would replay it to the officers.  We were even able to provide a license number, so that was good.  We followed in fear for about half an hour and then we had to turn off.  We never saw a police car.  Hopefully they did get them stopped before anything happened.

Woody's Point was a really cute little town and there was a cruise ship in the bay.  The passengers were being ferried to the town in zodiaks.  There was also a tour bus in town, so it was a busy spot.  We had lunch in a nice cafe there.  Then we carried on to the Park Discovery Centre.  Parking there was also at a premium.  It just explained a lot about the geology of the park and the first nations people, the Mik'mak.

We then carried on to Trout River past the Tablelands where we will have a hike tomorrow.  We are camped at Elephant Head RV Park which also has 5 geodesic domes and 2 tiny houses and a couple other structures that they rent on Airbnb.  They are really well done and appealing.
