Day 17 - Terra Nova National Park
Late afternoon yesterday we arrived at Terra Nova National Park. We are in the Newman Sound Campsite. It is lovely here. The main roads are all paved and the park looks quite new. The washrooms are amazing and very clean.
This morning it was laundry day. We stripped our bed and packed up all the laundry on our bikes. By about 11:30 we were all done. We remade the bed, put our clean clothes away and had coffee. Nice to have everything clean again.
Then we biked to a trail head in the park which was a wharf where they keep their boats. We saw something big in the water, like a dolphin or minke whale there. We then hiked to the Visitor's Centre. It was about 2.5 km each way. The visitor's centre had several nice films to watch about Terra Nova, a display of both native and non-native animals, and a touch tank. It was all really well done. We did another 1/2 km loop at the Visitor's Centre. It was here that we saw moose droppings for the first time. Another step closer to actually seeing a moose. It's got to happen soon. We then hiked back to our campground. We are spending the night here again.
